But first, let's talk to our RD, Amy Fischer, on the importance of these shots, the ingredients and why you should be taking them right now.

Amy: More and more people are working to reduce inflammation through a plant-based diet. The Turmeric + Tart Cherry is a natural anti-inflammatory and alternative to ibuprofen, naproxen and acetaminophen. Black pepper significantly helps with the absorption of turmeric.

The matcha shot was created as a smoother, less jittery caffeine shot, great for people who want to try something new or looking for an alternative to coffee.  (insert: JRINK: It also tastes bomb!).

The Sea Buckthorn (left) + Camu Camu (right) shot is beauty in a bottle.  They're both superfood berries that make a powerful combo together; omega fatty acids in Sea Buckthorn & collagen-promoting vitamin C in Camu Camu, all making for clearer and youthful looking skin.

(FYI: Camu Camu is nearly 1,000x higher in PPM of Vitamin C than oranges).

JRINK: So how should people take these shots? Every day, straight, with a juice?

Amy: The shots are more concentrated than juice and targeted to more specific issues. They are vitamins/supplements in a delicious food form. They can be taken everyday, straight or mixed with a juice.

JRINK: Rumor has it that matcha is the new coffee. Can you tell us a bit more about this green tea powder and shot?

Amy: For coffee lovers, there will always be coffee. At a time when coffee is being recognized for its health benefits, a lot of people can’t tolerate the caffeine from coffee. For those who are looking for a caffeine boost without the jitters, or just want to change it up, matcha is a great (if not better) alternative.

Matcha is different from other types of tea in that you’re drinking the entire leaf, which has been ground into a powder.  It's rich in antioxidants and brings a more “calm alertness”.

The mint is a nice seasonal compliment and the addition of coconut oil helps in the absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins found in matcha.

JRINK: We'd love to hear more about your background.  What's your story and how / why the switch from being a fashion & beauty publicist?

Amy: Nutrition is my second career.  In my former life as a fashion, beauty and health publicist, one of my clients was Sundari, an Ayurvedic skincare line created by Christy Turlington and 2 partners. Learning more about Ayurveda and how  foods can not only provide the body with energy and fuel but how food can also be used as medicine, I decided to take some graduate classes at NYU -- and the rest is history.

My professional goals lie in preventative health and working with companies like JRINK (thanks to Ashley Koff RD for the intro), to help bring health & wellness to the community.

Well there you have it, folks.  Shots are now available at all stores.  Bottom's up!
