Your constitution is Kapha, governing structure & stability. Your personality type is The Nurturing One with overall qualities of stable, cool, heavy, dense, moist, calm, and slow.

Kapha is responsible for the architecture and protection of the body. It is Kapha that lubricates your joints and hydrates your cells.  When it is well-behaved, its specialty is maintaining a grounded presence, while allowing for a healthy amount of sentimentality and compassion.

A healthy person with a Kapha-predominant constitution is laid back, dependable and loving.  They have a stable mind, strong body, and the ability to provide support for themselves and others. .

How do you know when Kapha is imbalanced?

In the mind of a Kapha, imbalance can manifest as low moods, lethargy, brain fog and a general feeling of feeling "stuck".  As the Kapha continues to get out of hand, signs will appear in other places as well. The respiratory system is particularly susceptible to excess Kapha, causing an accumulation of mucus, colds, and congestion. Weight gain is also a common symptom of imbalance.

Tips and tricks for when imbalanced:

1. Lifestyle:
That new new.  Breaking out of routine with new experiences is also ideal for Kapha types.  Try a new game, go see a new part of the world, learn a new skill or hobby.  Build that inner fire.  Waking up early is best and avoid naps during the day.
    2.  Exercise:

When exercising, work with forms of movement that are energizing and fast paced like heated yoga, kickboxing, and running.

    3.  Diet:

    • Avoid heavy, oily, and too many sweet and salty foods
    • Steamed vegetable, soup, beans, raw foods and salads are great meal options
    • Add warming spices to food (garlic, onion, cinnamon, cayenne, ginger)
    • Eat your heaviest meal in the middle of the day
    • Room temperature water, not iced or boiling hot
